Inspired On-the-Go Thunder Bay

I recently visited Thunder Bay for the lovely wedding of Michelle and Jordan and I got a chance to check out some interesting shops.  Did you know that Thunder Bay has a huge population of Finnish people?  Well, this is evident as you spend a little time in the city.  I hope to get back some day to spend more time with Michelle and Jordan and to see more of the wonderful outdoors in that area that they love so much!

Some inspiration found in Thunder Bay...a shop called Finnport carrying some amazing products such as:

Very cool kitchen cloths

And of course, a Finnish shop would not be complete without all things Marimekko like this placemat and bag.

There were some other great stores within the same neighbourhood, many featuring local artists, one of the other shops was Fireweed, so many locally made treasures

Just as a side note, every time I see these prints they remind me of my Thunder Bay friends, not that you have a VW van or boat but I somehow think you will someday....I was so happy to be a part of your special day, can't wait to see some more pictures.

A Horse Tale

I feel like reflecting on a recent trend of things I like related to horses.  I'm not sure where this came from as I have only rode a horse twice in my life (actually one was a donkey) although I have always loved plaid shirts and country music!

These days, everywhere I turn there are horses and other western-ness.  Maybe this means I should own a horse ranch?  Not sure about that but if I did...maybe I would have some art like this....

And maybe I would hang out, playing cards and listening to Corb Lund's new album Losin' Lately Gambler...."who would go to Vegas with a game in town like this..."  best lyric ever.  Check out the video here.

Or maybe I would just have fun wearing this sweater....ok featuring a deer or caribou not a horse.

Or, after curling on Sunday nights, I can stay home and enjoy my recent discovery of and love for the CBC show Heartland

Inspired On-the-Go

I've travelled a lot in the last few months...Toronto a few times, Thunder Bay, Montréal, Vancouver and Los Angeles.  All very unique and wonderful places which leave me feeling very inspired and needless to say a bit behind on blogging.  I was mainly travelling for work but luckily got to see some of my favourite people along the way and many pretty sights and designs!  I'll start from the beginning....Toronto.  A city that used to stress me out now calls my name as I know it better and better.  It is wonderful.

Some inspirations...

Porter Airlines

Porter is a new flying experience and anyone who doesn`t feel a little bit special when they fly Porter needs a check.  It`s as simple as that.  They have beautiful design and style which cannot be underestimated as the mark of a good company.  A mascot....square water bottles....free cappuccino, drinks and box lunches....nice lounges....interesting magazine with focus on Porter cities and the scotch cookies cannot be forgotten.  Did I mention a mascot....his name is Mr. Porter.

I even speculate that Air Canada is trying to compete...last week I noticed free coffee at Air Canada rapidair gates and they were giving out random muffins on another flight.  Competition is a good thing!

Porter Lounge at Toronto City Centre Airport - there`s one in Ottawa now too, not sure where else...but free for all passengers.

All the Porter destinations so far (more coming soon I hear).

Lovely Miller Harris products in beautiful packaging, which I discovered because some of these products are found in the rooms of Fairmont Hotels - how awesome is that?
