My Loft - Before and After pictures....what a difference some paint makes.

Before: when I first moved in - so dark, vampire cave but lots of potential

In-between period: Brightened up slightly.....but this pic shows the old paint colours in their glory. Blue ceiling....why oh why????

After: White paint!! Used Benjamin Moore Snowfall White everywhere except behind kitchen cupboards which is BM Cement Grey.

Shouting out some appreciation for wonderful wedges. I am very particular about which wedges I like, many feel clunky and heavy but these are perfectly wedgeful for me.

I've learned that with a loft, there comes tall ceilings and tall windows but also lots of track lighting and shadows.... therefore the need for many lamps. I've been searching for a tall lamp and finally found one I liked. Remember the inspiration lamps from my November blog post on lighting?

What do you think of the new lamp?

You have to see this to believe it. Pinterest provides you with a way to bookmark / pin all the images you like and then stores them for you in a gallery-like format. Of course, other style-minded people do the same so you can follow them and be inspired. And, without having to do the work, the images magically link to the website they came from. To top it off they are organized into categories like "Fashion" or "Home" and of course, searchable, likeable and re-pinnable.

Let it Be: Exposed Ductwork

Each day I get a bit closer to making paint decisions for my new space. I needed to live here and really see what I felt like. And of course, check out some of my favourite blogs for inspiration!

I've decided to leave all duct work unpainted...for now at least. Here are some inspirational images of unpainted ductwork in some seriously great spaces.

My Gallery Wall

Some pictures of my self-made gallery wall consisting of all pieces that I already had. Still lots of work to do, see before pics of kitchen here. And yes, my ceiling (sky) is currently blue although not quite as blue as this picture makes it seem, more of a soft blue in person.....but soon to be white.

Corners of my home

Happy to share a few pictures I took today of some corners in my home. I currently have design paralysis on how to make this space my own. Need to decide on paint as a first step. Thinking all white or a soft grey all over.

This is a corner of the master bedroom with its great brick wall and huge windows. So far I've removed one set of curtains (heavy felt salmon creations) and sealed one of the windows which was quite drafty and is luckily being replaced soon.

Another corner of master bedroom, yellow vintage lamp and mirror from Finders Keepers. Random scarves.

One half of my walk-in closet. Removed sliding doors (4 in total) to open up this space. All about the wooden hangers and colour arrangement, need to know what is there. Quality over quantity is my new clothing motto.

Secret bit of info about me: I like organizing things like closets, drawers and cupboards, can't help it, really can't.

I have a tag in my Google Reader called absolute faves where I save images that just need to appear on tidyowl someday so here are some from my absolute faves file, enjoy!

As Liz Lemon would say....``I want to go to there``. A spot of yellow, stripes, knit, textured walls and a circular window make this a cosy spot.

I want my office to look like this, including gold mirror of course! From Rue, an amazing online magazine so full of style, it is bursting at its online seams. Ok, I admit this just got tagged as an absolute fave today since Rue issue 2 is fresh off the online press.

Everything should be white. It really should. And I keep seeing that light fixture everywhere, love it.

Upholstered bed, concrete walls, chandelier, arched doorway and little stool that someone who lives in a place like this would surely sit on to put their shoes on, with a shoe horn.

My ladder is my new best friend with 12 foot ceilings. I am 5ft, ladder is 5ft so let's hope I don't need to go up to the highest point. I found some very fashionable ladders which are of course no comparison to my sturdy stainless steel, blue topped special!

Shine a Little Light: Lamp Dreaming

November is here and I'm back to blogging and twittering. I am so excited to be in a new place and will have some pictures soon. Before I take any pictures though, I need some light in here, seriously...dark on these November days. I don't have enough lamps to make up for lack of overhead lighting! Here are some lamps I love....and need (literally need....to see). I am very excited to be settled in my new place and can't wait to blog about it.

I always see things on the web that are beautiful...then I bookmark them....then I end up with 100s of bookmarks and never go back to them. Pinterest is so much better because it's a pretty gallery of everyone's favourite stuff. You should check out this magical land and create your own pin boards, then follow me (Tidyowl's Pins) so I can see your pins. I'm just starting out but it's so fun and of course inspirational!
